US INDEPENDENTS ANNOUNCES
FELLOWSHIPS TO
2002 WORLD CONGRESSES OF HISTORY AND SCIENCE PRODUCERS
Springfield, VA...US INDEPENDENTS announces the establishment of special reduced
fee fellowships for independent and station-based producers to attend the upcoming
World Congresses of History and Science Producers to be held October 20-23 and 23-27,
2002 in Berlin, Germany.
These fellowships will allow producers to register for either or both of these important
content-based meetings at a subsidized rate. In addition, the fellowships will include
special meetings and opportunities for fellows to meet with colleagues from the producing
community in and around Berlin as well as small group meetings with international
broadcasting commissioning editors. Participants will be selected based on the body
of work they have already produced and aired in the US, and their interest in and
potential for developing new international productions. Producers must also guarantee
that they will be able to provide the needed funds for international
travel, hotel and per diem. US Independents is working to obtain the lowest-cost
transportation and hotel rates possible. The number of fellowships is limited. Qualified
applicants will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Fellowship application
guidelines will be located on the US Independentsí website, <www.usindependents.com>.
- Stay tuned.
The World Congresses of History and Science Producers each gather key producers and
broadcasters from around the world. Registrants not only have an opportunity to hear
some of the best and brightest voices in the specific genres, but also have unprecedented
access to representatives from major production companies and broadcasting agencies
in an informal setting. Both congresses this year will concentrate on the rich heritage
and opportunity that is offered by the city of Berlin and many activities are planned
which will offer unique access to its history and culture and the individuals that
helped shape the new city. US Independents, Inc., launched in 1996, works with independent
producers worldwide to provide informed access to the international producing community
and marketplace. In addition to the World Congress of History and Science Producers,
US Independents is represented at various markets and seminars including: MIPDOC,
MIPTV, MIPCOM, KickStart, the RealScreen Summit, and the Banff Television Festival.
